Job Title: Senior Environmental Scientist/Planner

EMPSi has a full-time position for an experienced environmental scientist/planner. As part of this position, the potential employee will perform environmental science and planning tasks primarily related to land use planning, renewable energy development, natural resource issues (including water resources), and environmental impact analysis. The position can be located in San Francisco, California or Reno, Nevada

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and has good organizational skills and technical expertise to integrate many aspects of environmental work. The potential employee may be responsible for leading NEPA analyses; producing high-quality technical reports; mentoring junior staff; effectively coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, staff, and the public; and assisting with or leading marketing efforts.

Qualified candidates will possess at least a Bachelor's degree in a physical science (preferably geology or hydrology) with at least 10 years of proven consulting experience in conducting or supporting NEPA-level impact analysis. Additionally, the following qualifications are desired:
• Previous NEPA document authorship;

Job Title: Energy and Mineral Resources Engineer (EMRE)

The EMRE is the entry level classification for the Oil and Gas Engineer series of jobs. An EMRE assists higher-level engineers in the regulation of oil, gas, and geothermal resource operations.

Typical tasks of an EMRE include field testing and inspections; sampling produced water and drilling fluid; and monitoring oil, gas, and geothermal lease operations for compliance with state regulations.

You can qualify for EMRE with a college degree in geology, petroleum engineering, or a closely related field. You may substitute qualifying experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis; or with one year of experience performing the duties of an Oil and Gas Technician and completion of the equivalent of 18 college semester units in engineering, geology, or a related field.



Job Title: Associate Oil and Gas Engineer
Associate Oil and Gas Engineers perform difficult engineering work independently and may direct the work of other engineering personnel.

Typical tasks include engineering and geologic reviews of proposed well operations—ensuring technical and administrative procedures are followed—and preparing and interpreting technical and statistical data to provide the proper regulatory tools.

You can qualify for Associate Oil and Gas Engineer if you meet the educational requirements described for the EMRE, and have either on year of experience as a California state EMRE Range C or four years of other progressively responsible professional engineering experience in oil or geothermal field work.



Job Title: Supervising Oil and Gas Engineer
Supervising Oil and Gas Engineers direct the activities of larger district offices or other major units of the Division. They may coordinate statewide programs of major importance.

Typical tasks include supervising the preparation of technical guidelines for major field operations, overseeing major statewide programs, and preparing materials for administrative and public hearings.

Qualifications include the education requirements for EMRE, plus two years of experience as a Senior Oil and Gas Engineer or more than five years of other broad and extensive professional engineering oilfield experience, plus two years as a supervisor.

The Geothermal Program Office has a full time position for a Project Geologist. This position is needed to perform a wide variety of geotechnical field studies including such tasks as mapping, sampling, tending drill rigs, geophysical data acquisition focused on the identification and development of geothermal energy resources. Incumbent is required to take the lead and oversee the successful completion of projects involving logging and preparation of fluid and rock samples (surface, drilling chips, core), assisting in the assessment of field data including geochemical and geophysical data sets, successfully managing electronic data per office and Navy SOPs, report writing and presenting project results to DoD leadership, to DoD stakeholders and present at technical forums.     RMT provides technical and environmental services to public and private clients for permitting renewable energy, infrastructure, development, and water management projects. Services would be provided in Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino County areas.     Renewable Energy Project Engineer (Madison, WI)
    The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will work with project teams to assess feasibility of renewable projects, prepare preliminary site layouts, evaluate various technologies, and perform site design work. The primary focus of the position is on solar energy projects. Other projects will include wind and geothermal. The position will include diverse assignments including: site and resource assessments, feasibility studies, technology evaluation and site design work. Design duties may include concept and detailed design, design review, and cost estimating, as well as possible field assignments. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills as the position will work with clients, investors, government agencies, and other project teams. Projects are located throughout the United States. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to assist with the completion of projects according to established budgets and timelines. We’re seeking a candidate with solar/wind/renewable energy project experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to capitalize on, and contribute to RMT’s success.

    Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Engineering. Coursework and/or continuing education in solar or other renewable energies a plus.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in wind energy development or design.
  • Strong team participation skills.
  • Understand and use software programs for project management, development and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong writing, verbal, presentation, and listening skills.
